Audio Books on CD - The Best Quality Available

By using digital technology to place audio books on CD, it brings the stories to life like never heard before. Audio books on tape are soon to be replaced by audio books on CD bringing a superior audio quality and improved durability. The CD format is used by publishers, retailers and rental clubs making it a favorable format for the industry.

Audio books on CD have two types of formats:

1. Regular CD compression which allows for approximately 80 minutes of audio recording time. But the time also depends on the audio file size of the audiobook. This is the most common type that everyone is use to as most computers have the appropriate CDR burners. With the regular compression, this means that multiple CD's are needed for one audiobook recording.

2. MP3 CD compression takes the same audio file and compresses it down to a much smaller size. This allows for more audio recording time and less CD's needed for an audiobook. Audio book rental clubs have less CD's to ship and listeners can now listen to audio books on fewer CD's. MP3 compression has become very popular with the creation of Apple iPod and the various MP3 players. Audio book MP3 CD's are growing in popularity as a result of the players, therefore more audio book titles are available in this format.

This does not mean you should take your old audio books on tape and throw them out. No...

You can convert tapes to CD very easily, adding more titles to your audio book on CD library. Converting audio books on tape to CD's improves the audio quality, allowing greater enjoyment on older audiobook titles.

Audio books on CD can be played on many components such as:

Personal computers Automobile stereos Mini stereos Home stereos Portable CD players

Also, audio books on CD can be converted into MP3 file formats with a computer then transferred onto an MP3 player. This allows greater versatility of audio books on CD which is a benefit for you the listener. Audio books on CD are a great choice for all listeners due to the superior audio book quality, large title selection and simple operating devices.

Audio books on CD have become a regular part of our lives and we recommended them as one of your primary audio book formats.

Celtic Tattoos and Their Popularity

The history of the Celtic peoples goes back thousands of years. The early Celts displayed their skills in complex artwork particularly metal, jewelry and weapons as they were regarded as fierce warriors by the Romans. Evidence of celtic crossses and celtic artwork can still be found all over Ireland.

Modern Celtic peoples have evolved symbols for themselves, and in the North American people of Celtic descentoften wear these symbols to show that they are of Celtic descent. The ancient Celts passed knowledge down through an oral tradition of storytelling and didn't keep many written records, consequently, there is little evidence of their tattooing remaining even though celtic cross tattoos and celtic know tattoos are very popular designs.

Most of Celtic tattoo designs are taken from the Irish Illuminated Manuscripts 'The Book of Kells', on display in the library of Trinity College in Dublin, my home town. This is a much later time period than the height of Celtic tattooing. Designs from ancient stone and metal work are more likely to be from the same time period as Celtic tattooing.

Celtic knot tattoos are usually loops with no end or beginning symbolising the never ending cycle of death and rebirth. Celtic animal (zoomorphic tattoo designs) designs are similar in construction but the cords terminate in feet, heads, tails. Pure knots are usually unending, unless the end of a strand is stylized into a zoomorphic element or a spiral.

Celtic knotwork's meaning defies literal translation and is to be found at a deeper level. The repeated crossing of the physical and the spiritual are expressed in the interlace of the knots. The never ending path of the strands may represent the permanence and the continuum of life, love and faith and for these reason celtic tattoos have become so popular.

For people who have a Celtic heritage, whether Irish, Scots or Welsh , getting a Celtic design can be a way of expressing pride in their heritage by reaffirming an affinity the indigenous artistic style of their ancestors. They are usually not easy designs to do, and it is strongly recommended to anyone contemplating getting one to make sure that the artist they are considering has experience in designing Celtic tattoos. Not all tattoo artist have the eye for detail and exacting line placement needed to draw the intricate patterns particular to Celtic art.

Shipping Is Big Industry World-wide

Shipping has become a commercial enterprise for transferring or transporting of goods, cargoes and other materials from one location to the other through the sea by ships. Shipping is a vital part of the economy not only of certain countries but the whole world as well. Each country has its own standards and policies regarding shipping. For efficiency of shipping, some countries have special naval ships to make sure that the lawful goods will be successfully transported to the supposed location. The "merchant navies", as what it is called are made from tough durable materials to ensure the safety of the goods as they traversed through rough and huge waves. The merchant navies are carriers of international goods intended for shipping.

There are various sea vessels involved in shipping. It may include box boats or container ships, bulk carriers, tankers, ferries, cable layers, dredgers and barges. Container ships or box boats for shipping use huge containers to carry loads and cargoes. Savind space is of vital consideration for container ships. Extra big loads are handled through open top containers, platforms and flat racks. Loading and unloading of goods can be done using the right type of cranes. Most of the dry goods transported to different areas of the world are carried by container ships. Diesel engines provide the needed power to keep it going in shipping the goods from one point to the other.

Bulk carriers are deep sea vessels for shipping bulk goods like sugar, grains, rice and other bulky items. The big box-like structures situated on the deck is its notable features as compared with other shipping vessels. Tankers are vessels that are meant for shipping huge quantity of liquid hydrocarbon items like fuel, oil and gas around the world. Other tankers specialize in carrying chemicals like ammonia and chlorine. The largest tanker ship in the world is the Knock Nevis supertanker. Such shipping types can pose great threats on the environment if the liquid hydrocarbon spills on the sea or sinks down into the seabed. The type of tanker used would depend on the type of oil or materials carried which may include chemicals and crude oil.

Ferries are usually used as a passenger ship or boat together with the vehicles and goods carried by the passengers. As part of the public transport systems, ferries have scheduled shipping services. Cable layers, as what can be inferred from the name, are used to set cables for telecommunication, electricity and other related areas under the water. To prevent unwanted sediments from contaminating river beds or the bottom surfaces of harbors, dredgers are the commonly used vessels. The traditional barges together with tugboats are shipping vessels for rivers and canals. Barges are moved by tugboats to ship heavy goods but nowadays it only carries low value items since the capacity is not that tough. Barracks barge, Royal barge, liquid cargo barge, dry bulk cargo barge and railcar barge are the common types of shipping barges. Shipping must be done with utmost care to ensure that the goods will be delivered without any damages or defects.

What is Dedicated Web Hosting

For people, companies or organizations who are looking for the most dependable web hosting solution for their mission critical operations, dedicated hosting will give them what they need. Dedicated hosting isn't the right solution for everyone, and does have some drawbacks, but it has many more advantages than shared web hosting.

When a customer purchases shared web hosting they are on the same web server as hundreds and sometimes thousands of other websites. This can have a negative affect on performance and uptime. When you start using dedicated web hosting your website will be the only website on that server. Dependability is the number one reason people choose to go with a dedicated web hosting solution. Most dedicated hosting packages allow you to have multiple websites on one server, so if you have sister companies, separate divisions, other companies you have relationships with you can share server resources with them, usually with out making major performance sacrifices.

However all of this extra dependability and hardware does come at a higher price. Shared hosting packages run from $2 a month through about $50 a month, with most being less than $20 a month. The most bare bones dedicated hosting packages will start at $80 a month and range as high as several thousand a month. Most people find they fall in the $200 to $500 month range for dedicated hosting solutions. When looking at hosting packages there are two major areas you should be concerned with managed or unmanaged servers and hardware configurations. With an unmanaged server the customer is responsible for software, security and other maintenance that the server needs. Selecting an unmanaged server can often save you quite a bit of money over the year. However unless you or someone on your staff is experienced with maintaining a server this is usually not a good idea, and will cost you and money down the line. The next thing you have to consider is hardware for the machine, what size disks will you need, how fast does your processor have to be, how much bandwidth do you need and so on. When making these decisions plan for where you are today and where you plan to be in 18 to 24 months from now. You want to make sure you allow for future growth, but you don't want to overpay for resources you are never going to use.

Recycle - Where to Get Cheap Materials

New timber is very attractive - it's clean and straight and full of promise - just waiting for you to cut and shape and finish.

But it costs, and while some may have been well seasoned, most is only kiln dried, which can result in shrinkage, warping and cracking over time. This may not matter, depending on what one is making.

You may have noticed with a piece of timber that is straight and true, when it is sawn down into two pieces, each can warp dramatically, due to the changed internal stresses.

Recycled Timber By finding sources of old timber to recycle, you can save a great deal of money, and reduce by a large amount the costs of your projects. There major drawback is that some time must be spent on preparation of the timber before you can go ahead.

I have used lots of second hand timber. It's usually dirty, but a sand or a plane soon returns it to its former beauty.

Oak beams are the best example of this transformation - the decayed looking, dirty crumbling surface is usually very thin, and once removed the resulting beam is clean, hard and beautiful.

One major attraction is that it is well seasoned - shrinkage and warping was done long ago.

True, if sawn in half, twisting can still happen as the stresses are changed, but mostly it will be stable.

One drawbacks is that there may be nails, and other faults, but depending on what is being used for, this may not matter.

Look for faults, twisting, and warping, when selecting wood to be used. Sources - reclamation yards, auctions, farms, demolition sites.

Old furniture This is another very useful source of timber although usually of smaller dimensions. Wardrobes, cupboards, tables, boxes all yield useful stuff.

Surplus stuff Look on-line for surplus wood and furniture. Often the damaged goods section will reveal a bargain.

Surplus roof trusses can provide loads of structural timbers if one can work round the connector plates, which are tricky to remove.

You could also ask at a local building site - they sometimes have over-ordered, or have damaged stuff they can't use. They might be pleased to see you.

Pallets Again depending what you are doing, pallets can be found all over the place, and the wood is usually well seasoned and strong (but with nails!).

Old stock Lots of places sell off discontinued lines at knock down prices - flat pack units and assembled stuff are a great source on mdf and chipboard.

How to be More Creative and Enhance Your Creativity

efore thinking about how to be more creative, let me begin point out some real barriers that some people seem to have when wanting to enhance creativity, have a think if any of these things are applicable to you and your life;

1. Lack of time. This is not as major as you may think. Linking thoughts and ideas only takes seconds. It can happen anytime, anywhere. Provided you are in the right state and pay attention to your own experience.

Creativity in my opinion is more about the quality of the time you have and being receptive to yourself. Though this does take some time.

2. Fear of being judged. When I worked for a national newspaper and we had brainstorming sessions, individuals were often scared of expressing ideas. Creativity results in unusual ideas and perhaps even being different in some way. They can be thought of as strange, odd or challenging. Fear of being considered weird, stupid or just different often kills creativity. If I feared people thinking any of those things about me, I would not bother getting out of bed in the mornings; I love the fact that people think I am all of those things!!

3. Lack of self-esteem. When you do something creative, you go beyond the bounds of what has been safe and familiar in the past, to yourself and maybe even others. When you are not sure about yourself, being different in any way can feel risky or make you feel vulnerable. The danger is that you give up your new insight to just blend in. Smash out of those shackles!

4. Fear of failure. This inhibits us. If you are making a new connection in your brain there can be no inherent "right" or "wrong" about it. Failure can only have two meanings really; firstly, that it didn't work in the way you wanted it to. Secondly, Someone else did not like it. But so what??!! I have to tell you all that I get many comments on how I generate so many successful projects and am often asked how I do it. I always point out that these projects are actually only about 10% of what I have imagined. The other 90% didn't work or didn't get out of my brain.

Creativity is not reserved for genius only. Einstein was brilliant but he is not necessarily the best model of creativity for us. You do not need specialist expertise to be creative. The fruits of your creativity may manifest in many, many differing ways, in fact I expect so.

If at any time you doubt your ability to be creative, remind yourself that several times every night you create an entirely new dream, which you script, act in and watch, which involves all your senses and has effects that can last long after they are over. This creation is so very effortless most people don't even recognise it as such.

How to be more creative.

Ok, so how does one actually go about getting more creative. Let me give you some ideas;

1. Find the right frame of mind. Explore what states you associate with being creative. Discover properly what it is that triggers and maintains you being creative. What's your best time of day? The best environment? Do you need to be alone or with others or alone in the midst of others? Do you need sounds or silence or background sounds? Build a profile of your creativity state, then make time and space for it on a regular basis instead of waiting for some divine intervention and for it to just happen on its own.

2. Cultivate dreaming. Pay attention to your experience of life and attention to your existing creativity rather than dismissing day-dreams and dreams. Don't allow yourself to waste what you may already be discovering by ignoring it.

3. Ask yourself "What if?" and "What else?" and "How else?" Always go beyond what you fist thought, find more and more different ideas.

4. When and/or if you hit a problem, pretend your usual solution is not available. This can work in many different ways. If your PC crashes today, how else might you do your work? If you usually argue face to face, what would happen if you wrote your feelings down instead? Some solutions may be no better than the ones you're used to: others may offer you brilliant new opportunities. Do something different. I wrote about that idea in an earlier article entitled Do something Different, go check it out.

5. See how many different results you can get with the same ingredients. I am sure many of you know that there is a cookbook called "Recipes 1-2-3" by Rozanne Gold, in which every recipe is made out of only three ingredients.

Some recipes use the same three ingredients but different processes or quantities come up with different results.

You can have some great fun by taking an every day object and imagine or think about how many other uses it can have, you can even think about how to combine them with other objects.

6. Think of different ways to do the familiar. Change the order in which you do things, use different things, use your less favoured hand; as soon as we break routine, we move from a state where we are on auto-pilot to one where we are alive and alert. You exercise unfamiliar brain connections and help build new links in your brain. A glorious feeling!

7. Look out for the difference that makes the difference. When you encounter something that strikes you as different, ask yourself what it is about it that is so different or new or unusual. Where does the key difference actually lie?

I want to mention a strategy that is well talked about in NLP circles and that I have used for many years and that is the Disney Creativity Strategy.

The Disney creativity strategy is for developing your dreams and giving them the best possible chance of becoming reality. It is named after Walt Disney, who often took on three different roles when his team was developing an idea; the dreamer, the realist and the critic. Robert Dilts, an NLP pioneer, modelled and developed this strategy as an NLP tools. Some of Robert's articles that he kindly donated can be found at my website.

The strategy separates out these three vital roles involved in the process of translating creative ideas into reality so that they can be explored separately for maximum clarity and effect.

Many companies have specialists in each of the three fields and I have done consultancy work with companies myself whereby I have asked different team members to take on one of the roles. You can also play all three roles yourself as I often do in coaching or business consultancy, with your own wants, needs and goals.

However, the usual way to use it is to allocate three roles to different people (realist, dreamer and critic) to assess plans or tasks. Ask someone to act as the dreamer and tell you all the possibilities of the idea. Ask someone else to examine exactly what would be involved in putting it into practice (realist), and someone to take a hard look at it and really evaluate its strengths and weaknesses (critic). You may want to rotate the roles. If doing it on your own, be sure to keep the roles very separate and write them down. I do this with lots of my own ideas and with changes I want to make in my life.

You can even use this in a meeting broken down into three stages; Each role as a separate stage. Get everyone brainstorming and being creative first; then get them thinking about what would actually have to happen in practical terms; then get them critically evaluating the possibilities.

I suggest that you have some fun being creative and doing things differently to generate more creativity. It feels wonderful and if you have found that your progress to success or the outcomes you desire has been blocked or gone stagnant, then think about being more creative in how and what you are doing.

Overcoming Shyness - 5 Tips to Help You to Feel Confident in Social Situations

1) Ask questions

People like to be asked about themselves, it shows that you are taking an interest and it makes the other person feel valued. Before your next social engagement think of a few open ended questions that you can ask. There are tons of icebreakers, e.g.: How was your journey? Hello, how are things with you? Try to avoid questions where there is just a yes or no answer. If you put your focus and attention over on to the other person then you are less likely to be thinking about how shy you are feeling.

2) Become a Good Listener

There is nothing quite like a great conversation with someone where they are listening intently to what you are saying. The next time you are speaking to someone, make a point of really listening to what they have to say. If someone is telling you about something that happened in his or her life resist the temptation to jump in with your own example. Your shyness will soon dissolve as you become engrossed in their story.

3)Don't Make Assumptions

Often when we feel shy we can start to make assumptions about how other people perceive us. We can assume that other people are judging us negatively or we assume that other people are more interesting, more talented more confident than we are, so we clam up, or walk away from a potential great friendship. Let go of any assumptions or limiting beliefs you have about yourself and start today to look for evidence of what a magnificent person you really are.

4)Practice with Strangers

The next time you are in a supermarket queue practice engaging in small talk with the cashier or person standing next to you. Practising with complete strangers who you are never likely to meet again can help you to overcome your shyness and give you more confidence.

5) Give Yourself a Confidence Boost

To give yourself a confidence boost, set all modesty aside and write down 50 things that you like about yourself - strengths, talents, attributes, and skills. These could be anything from: being kind to animals, being a great driver, being a good mum or having excellent computer skills. Don't stop until you fill up a page. People who are shy often unconsciously put themselves down and it's important to get a more realistic picture of who you really are.

Student Loans - Living at Low Cost

As a student you are going to have to learn to cut your costs. Your income will be severely limited, and it will be vital for you to avoid unnecessary expense, and to keep any interest charges on loans to a minimum.

You will have plenty of company and will be able to compare notes with fellow students on how to eke out your income to the best effect. The final choice on how you raise the necessary cash for course and living expenses will however be yours. You will need to evaluate your options with care, and ensure that you make every pound worth as much as possible.

This may sound like a ridiculous statement, but bear in mind that you could easily reduce the value of your pounds if you commit to loans for which you will have to pay interest charges. Those charges must be paid come what may, if you are not to find yourself heading for a slippery slope on which interest is added to interest.

Let us emerge from this gloom! Interest free loans can be obtained - your Local Education Authority (LEA) is well used to dealing with these. You may find that, if your family income is relatively low your tuition fees will be paid for you in full, and there is a sliding scale which requires some payment from students from families who are over the threshold. You may have heard that all tuition fees are paid by the government, but sadly this no longer applies. Increases in university admissions made it no longer viable, and in addition a theory was applied which said that ex-students would be better able to pay off the costs when they were in well paid employment.

This theory was not applied fully, with the result that the maximum tuition fees for which a student is responsible is ¼ of the cost - currently around £4000, although universities do keep increasing their fees. The remaining ¾ of the cost is covered by the government.

Despite evidence to the contrary it is accepted that students need to eat and that a diet of beans may be high in fibre but can be exceedingly monotonous. This is where your LEA will help, and you need to discuss your situation with them as soon as the course which you will take is determined. They will work out what you can borrow and the student's loan company will be responsible for ensuring that this money is available to you for the student year commencement.

We have already said that you need to avoid having to pay interest charges. Well, a student loan is as about near as you can get to this. Interest on the loans (which by the way are unsecured) will be at a rate which takes account of inflation, so that you will only pay back the equivalent sum to that borrowed. Best of all, no repayment will be required until the end of the tax year after graduation, and even then this stipulation carries 'get out' clauses. No repayment will be required until your income reaches a threshold which triggers the requirement; additionally, the rate of repayment will be adjusted to tie in with your earnings level.

There is yet another get out clause; if your earnings never reach the repayment threshold, they will be written off completely at age 65! It really is a shame that this type of loan is not more universally available!

Whether you will ever reach the repayments threshold is in your own hands to a large extent, and it could take several years after graduation before you do. During this time you will have the millstone of debt haunting you; currently the average on leaving university is over £10,000 and this is expected to increase considerably in the next few years. At least you have the reassurance that the amount owed is not increasing in real terms - there is no interest being charged on interest.

If you possibly can, avoid all temptations, especially of the financial kind. A credit card is a hand grenade if the hand holding it is desperate. Agreed, they are no problem if paid off in full every month, but this is not your aim is it? You need cash and you need it now. So very shortly you find that your repayment is inconvenient or impossible, and there you are on the aforementioned slippery slope of interest charges.

Banks offer interest free student loans but these also carry in-built dangers. You can usually borrow around £2000 (a sprat to catch a mackerel - they want your business when you are a high-flyer) but exceed your limit and wham!! You are just another customer and you are likely to find yourself paying for an unauthorised overdraft plus high interest charges.

Really, when it comes down to it, you have but one choice. Conduct your financial affairs with great care and in fine detail; you will benefit greatly in the short term and once you ARE a high flyer, then the world will be your oyster and maybe you will even be able to dictate the terms of a loan.
